Danske Bank wants to be the Apple of the financial world and is investing DKK 700 million in customer-focused IT solutions over the next three years.

 

“We want to be the Apple of the financial world,” says Tonny Thierry Andersen, head of Personal Banking, to the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in an extensive interview on 8 June.

With Apple as a model, Tonny Thierry Andersen thinks that Danske Bank’s digital solutions should be the easiest and most user-friendly in the financial sector: “We want to make it even easier and simpler for customers to use the Bank. No matter where, when and how the customer wants advice or wants to make daily transactions. In the financial sector, we must generally be much more innovative than we have been, and that requires significant investments.”
 
Simpler access to the Bank
Tonny Thierry Andersen hopes that the Bank’s digital solutions can help change its negative image: “I believe that, by delivering concrete digital solutions to customers, we can convey and explain what we mean by “New Standards". We want to make customers’ daily life easier and more simple.”

As examples of the Bank’s digital solutions, he mentions the Spending Overview in Danske eBanking, MobilePay and Online Meetings. He expects that before the end of this year 10% of all customer meetings will be held online and by 2015, as many as half of them will be. The demand for online advisory services is increasing.

The article also mentions 15 initiatives for mobile solutions that the Bank has under way but that Tonny Thierry Andersen will not disclose yet, except for one: an eBanking system for older customers that will probably be ready by the end of the year.
